“This is one street photographer’s take on a NY Fashion Week event. I shot all of these on W. 42nd Street, outside an event held at the main branch of the NY Public Library in 2023. I’m certainly no dedicated follower of fashion so the actual runway event inside would have held little interest to me. Out on the sidewalk, I tried to capture the spontaneous and candid interactions between models, press and fans. Moments on the periphery.”

About the author:
Jeff Rothstein – “A native Brooklynite and living in Manhattan for many years, I’ve been shooting New York City since the dawn of the 1970s. Wandering the streets with my cameras, I consider myself an urban observer. I try to capture the city’s environment – structures, signs and, most of all, the fleeting moments of people on the streets that will soon disappear into thin air. Over the years, my photos have appeared in a variety of publications and numerous features about my work have appeared in the press. My photobook, Today’s Special: New York City Images 1969-2006, was published in 2017; my work has been included in many international exhibitions. My project Gotham Memories: New York City Images Of The 1970s And 1980s won the Urban Photo Awards 2021 exhibition prize at the Poreč Museum (Croatia).”
